After 43 years of civilian service — always with the Army — G4’s Anne Marie Murray celebrated her retirement in a ceremony at the Pentagon, hosted by Army G-4 LTG Aundre Piggee.

It all began for the New Jersey native as a GS-3 at the Chicago District Recruiting Command. She spent 23 years in Germany, and after the Berlin Wall fell, she helped move tens of thousands of troops from Europe and was named USAREUR Civilian of the Year. At U.S. Army Materiel Command, she oversaw the year-end closing of the books — $47 billion in assets.

Anne Marie has been a crucial leader in G-4’s resource management team for the past nine years. “She keeps the G-4 train running smoothly” said LTG Piggee. He credited her with improving financial controls to ensure the Army is good stewards of the transportation budget. She helped allocate resources to support the redistribution of excess equipment that has improved Army readiness.

“Anne Marie is the epitome of true selfless service,” LTG Piggee said. She is a second-generation civilian — her father was a mechanical engineer at Picatinny Arsenal. Her mother was one of those “Rosie the Riveters” filling armor belts in World War II.

Anne Marie also is an Army spouse — proudly looking on was her husband CW3 (Retired) Hickey Murray.

Thanks for 43 years!
