The Vatican flag flies at half-staff on a Vatican office building in Rome March 31. Matteo Bruni, director of the Vatican press office, said that "in solidarity with Italy" the Vatican lowered its flags "in mourning to express its closeness to the victims of the pandemic in Italy and throughout the world, with their families and with those working generously to end it." At the time of this posting, nearly 11,600 people had died of #COVID19 in Italy, and more than 14,600 people had recovered. (CNS photo/Paul Haring)
